JUNGLE MAT, 2025
TRAINER
He is known as “Gorilla Hands” — a Brazilian-American black belt who earned his rank at just 19 years old. He is the owner and head coach of Surfight California, where he brings world-class experience to the mats every day.
He is widely recognized for his competitive success in both Gi and No-Gi, with standout performances at ADCC Trials and Polaris. A highly decorated competitor, his accolades include wins at Copa Pacifica, the California State Championship, and the CJ Invitational.
Known for his high-level technical skill and deep submission-grappling expertise, he brings elite knowledge, intensity, and experience to every session.
HOSTESS
Charli Meek
A professional surfer, born in the USA and raised in Costa Rica, she is a respected host and commentator at international surf competitions. Charli has deep knowledge of South Pacific beach breaks and brings firsthand experience from years in the water. She is also the founder of Bull Block, a natural sunscreen created by surfers, for surfers.
HOST
Ernesto Fallas
Ernesto was born in Costa Rica, he is the founder of Jungle Mat BJJ academy and co-founder of Fuego Verde retreats, but also part of the community in Uvita.
He brings more than 15 years of experience as a personal trainer. Has has dedicated his entire life to find balance for wellbeing through the 3 essential pillars: mind, body and soul.
Ernesto believes in the foundation of a healthy body
through movement, he wants to support his
community through the martial arts.
